“Tell me three things you don’t like about your character?”

“Would you prefer to be a small fish in a big lake or a big fish in a small lake?”


Available research provides no evidence that these and similar questions which are frequently asked in interviews daily can identify who will perform best on job. Yet, unknowing interviewers continue to waste their own and interviewees’ time by asking them these kind of questions. Most interviewers admit that their hiring decisions are based on their instincts; however the best talent management practices are based on evidence, not tradition or instinct.
